My final submission boards aim to be short yet to the point to let my work do the talking and avoid boring the judges. My research into previous submissions on the D&AD website also provided me with the confidence to outline just the key concepts and outcomes. According to the brief, I am allowed to submit up to 8 design boards.
The first board is a full bleed image of all the posters to provide the judges with high impact imagery to catch their eye. This aims to excite and intrigue:
Second board highlights my concept, supported by one of the marker pen compositions to add visual stimulation and is an example of my broad experimentation:
Imbedded a quote from my research into Signs in Action by James Sutton because it describes the unique sign writing style. This will also demonstrate my contextual awareness and research methods. Using the 4 compositions help to show how the bulbous forms have been utilised to create ambiguity and high contrast:
Chose a close up and angled image of the posters to avoid repeating the image used on the first board:
Dedicated a slide to the stickers to highlight a diverse range of typographic styles.
Finished with another high impact image of a selection of posters in a rustic context:
Created consistency through the design boards by setting the type to the left hand side and using only 2 point sizes. The traditional aesthetic creates a flow and familiarity.
