OUGD503 - D&AD - Monotype - Street Market - Graphite Rubbings

Returned to the market to take some rubbings of the historical architecture and typography. As shopping at markets provides a personal, raw experience and the produce is unpackaged and fresh I thought taking the rubbings straight from the location would provide an accurate representation. The texture picked up by the graphite crayon differs depending on the smoothness of the surface, which in the market was rough and full of unique surfaces.

I managed to pick up some typographic rubbings outside the markets on the side of a postbox:

Perhaps these rubbings can be used on the paper bags/wrapping paper if I decide to follow this concept because they relate the the raw, tangible experience of commercing at a market.
