OUGD503 - Penguin Student Design Award - To Kill a Mockingbird - Test Prints

Front/side:

Back:

After test printing the cover using colour/black and white ink settings, I much prefer the colour setting because the black is a lot deeper which creates more contrast. By test printing the cover, I was able to see how the composition of text and image relates to each other a lot easier compared to looking at it on screen. There is also some graphic flack left over by the scanner which I removed using Photoshop however if the design was subtly debossed and was a softer grey the ink would sit into it. Printing the design out allowed me to analyse the proportion and sizes of the elements which allowed me to make some final touches.

FEEDBACK

What colours do you associate with justice/injustice?

Should the type collage continue onto the back?

Do you think the outcome is too ambiguous for the competition brief?
