Used this meeting to discuss and confirm the scenes and what the narrative should be. We took a lot of inspiration from the Nato Press publication that Annie suggested:
Ticket: 'The tickets are taken...'
Originally this was going to be 'The tickets are ripped' however Annie's research confirmed that the tickets are in fact scribbled on to show the ticket has been accepted. We made sure that we considered this in the animation.
Sound effect: Recording the sound of pen on paper or even tearing a piece of paper will add to the sensory experience.
Crowd: 'The crowd awaits...'
Sound effect: Supported by mumbling sounds recorded - This could perhaps be achieved by recording the sounds of the University canteen.
Orchestra: 'The orchestra fiddles...'
Using the verb 'fiddle' adds a playful and friendly tone of voice and refers to the violin.
Sound effect: Potentially record a guitar tuning up or look online for a better alternative. The sound can be edited and layered to represent an entire orchestra.
Conductor: 'The conductor taps...'
To create the sound of the conductor tapping his baton on the stand we can use a pencil.
Stage: 'The stage is lit...'
Sound effect: I have been considering how we can associate a sound with the lights turning on. Large spot lights often evoke a small bang when the handle is pulled and the light turns on, perhaps this will do or we could choose a more animated sound.
Ballet begins: 'The curtains open, the ballet begins'
Potentially no need for a sound effect because the crowd will be quiet in anticipation for the ballet to begin.
The scene is progressive and fast paced which will grab the audiences attention and avoid being tedious. It shows the journey from handing the ticket over to the beginning of the ballet which will put the audience into context.
