A small section of the museum was dedicated to anti war posters and campaigns:
Quote from the poster:
'War should belong to the tragic past, to history; it should find no place on humanities agenda for the future.' Pope John Paul II, 1982
The statements from all of the posters are still relevant and poignant today:
'Chair' - Kester
A chair made from parts of guns handed in during a scheme run by the Christian Council of Mozambique to accept unwanted weapons in exchange for useful tools like ploughs and sewing machines. Local artists were given the guns, previously used in the civil war, to make sculptures that were shown at the exhibition.
This demonstrates how art and design can help to change the world for the good and raise awareness of an important issue. However, this needs to be publicised more in order for the campaign to take a stronger, more consistent role in order to gain more support.
