The brief is in association with AKA, the international entertainment marketing agency:
AKA's mission is to attract, excite and inspire audiences to experience art, culture and entertainment. This year AKA combined forces with The San Francisco Ballet to design the concept for the 2017 season and three of their productions Cinderella, Frankenstein and Swan Lake.
The poster campaign above promotes the iconic ballet's using an image lead solution and consistent, transferrable typesetting. The chosen serif typeface is traditionally used to connote elegance and fragility due to the contrast in thick and thin stroke width, which is appropriate for the traditional context of ballet. Perhaps moving away from this norm would stand out as a radical approach which will become more eye catching to young people. AKA have taken inspiration from nature and the form of the body, which are consistent themes found in the context of ballet.
