As a response to some feedback a received considering my initial concepts, I looked at Paul Smith's collection of old cycling jerseys. I found a useful article on creative review from 2016:

One of the major draws for Smith collecting the older jerseys is their simplicity. The jersey's sans-serif typographic style is framed by the bold blocks and stripes of colour, creating a focal point and simplifying the composition. The use of stripes is a consistent theme that I have identified from the jerseys and as well the older, vintage posters.

I aim to refer back to these once I start the design process.
