OUGD504 - Design for Print - Double Pamphlet Stitch Binding

Creating mockups of different binding methods will help me to be more aware of stock considerations and layout. My coptic stitch workshop is still pending so I decided to try out the double pamphlet stitch so that I don't waste time and fall behind. Book binding is a time consuming process that requires a lot of attention to detail and consideration. From first year, I have accepted that mistakes will happen during the production so settling these mistakes early will benefit my publication.

Created a mock up of a double pamphlet stitch from my experience on the binding workshop, however I also adapted the process so that the publication can be hard cover. My main inspiration for choosing this process is from my book binding induction where I was able to explore through a variety of binding techniques.

Simply created the double pamphlet stick and glued the two end pages to the grey board:

The publication lies flat, exposing all of the information on the pages to impact the audience. This method is very simple and easy to produce, however the double pamphlet stitch would require a lot of pages which won't be appropriate for my publication as I don't have enough relevant images for my concept. The simple addition of the hardcover will need more research because simply gluing the end page doesn't evoke professionalism.
